Carpenter Not Ready Yet

With the Cardinals hanging around the Brewers and Cubs at 7.5 games back, despite being completely decimated by injuries, it looks like they won't be getting their ace back soon as originally planned. Chris Carpenter threw 3 innings for Palm Beach (Class A) & is now suffering from swelling and stiffness in his elbow again. Getting Carpenter back would have been like a midseason acquisition for the Cardinals, who can't be having too much fun trying to defend their World Series crown with Kip Wells taking the hill every 5 days. (12 losses already for Wells)
