Here's an interesting idea. Eric Majeski has a goal of organizing a fan buyout of the Cubs, a model he proposes would be like the one that currently owns the Green Bay Packers. Normally with anything associated with the Green Bay Packers, I would be disgusted and just brush aside. However, I like this idea. Imagine getting the chance to own the Cubs, even if it's such a minuscule percentage.
According to the Sun Times, Majeski's plan would be to sell $100 dollar shares, with a max buy of $100,000. Majeski would then have the banks hold the money in escrow for a bid that could be about a billion dollars.
Does Majeski's plan sound cool for Cubs fans, with the chance of actually owning the team? Absolutely. Does Majeski have a chance in getting into the bidding with this plan? Absolutely not. I just don't see Bud Selig being very intereted in this, especially with his friend John Canning Jr. in the mix to buy the club.
Does the name Eric Majeski sound familiar? It shouldn't because the guy is a random nobody. Majeski does have a website, so show your support if you like the idea. Or send him nasty emails if you don't. Either way, cool with us.
