Poor Steve Bartman. Just when his name was out of the news circulation for a couple months, Sportsbuy.com & a bunch of nerds who collect autographed crap put Bartman right back in the news. Bartman is a wanted man. He's wanted this time for his autograph.SportsBuy.com and the National Sports Collectors Convention are offering $25,000 -- a briefcase with 250 $100 bills inside -- to infamous Chicago Cubs fan Steve Bartman if he comes out of hiding attends the show and signs a single autograph.
Yeah I really don't see that happening."No one in sports memorabilia history has ever been paid $25,000 to sign one autograph -- not Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Joe DiMaggio, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, or any other athlete,” said Mike Berkus, co-Executive Director of The National. "Steve Bartman has been a recluse for years, but we’re hopeful that he will accept our invitation and generous offer to appear ... We have personal security to provide to Steve at The National and to a destination of his choosing.”
If I were Steve Bartman, I wouldn't sign anything for under $25 million. Would you go to an event where they actually have to provide personal security for you? Are all the nerds at a sports convention going to get slap happy? Would you seriously want to go to a sports memorabilia convention?
