Jon Lieber set to hang out in the Minors until Sept. 1st

Yesterday, we were curious on what the Cubs will do nowthat Jon Lieber is healthy and ready to come back to the ball club. Would Lieber be put on waivers and possibly traded? Would the Cubs send down Marshall or Cotts for a couple weeks until the rosters expand?

The answer will most likely be: Lieber stays put in the minors until September 1st.

While physically healed and strong, Lieber isn't sure what his next assignment will be. It's no secret the Cubs have no plans to activate him before rosters expand next month, barring injury.

Nothing wrong with this move, consider Lieber is just a long reliever/spot starter at this point in his career. Sean Marshall & Chad Gaudin have filled in perfectly in Lieber's place.

Plus, this allows Lieber to just stay put in Peoria, and you know, save on gas.
